What Are the Benefits of Ford SYNC?
The Ford SYNC system has been around since the 2008 model year, and it keeps getting better. In fact, when it was first introduced in the 2008 model year, SYNC was generally considered one of the best hands-free systems on the market. Now, with the introduction of the latest generation Ford SYNC 3®, this communication and infotainment system once again becomes one of the most comprehensive and easy-to-use voice command systems available.
Ford SYNC is actually a family of systems that range from the basic SYNC with MyFord®, to the enhanced MyFord Touch® system, and finally to the new Ford SYNC 3 with its next-generation voice activated technology and enhanced set of features. This range of choices allows Ford vehicle owners to choose just the right SYNC features to meet their communication and technology needs.
What You Get With Ford SYNC
If controlling your music selection, getting directions and making hands-free phone calls while driving is all you need from your in-vehicle technology, then Ford SYNC with MyFord is the version for you. But if you like the control of a touchscreen interface, then SYNC with MyFord Touch is the one you want. With its larger screen, this version of SYNC offers enhanced features and tools. However, if you want a system that is more like your smart device (only with a bigger screen), then the new Ford SYNC 3 is what you’re after. Ford SYNC Improvements
Every generation of Ford SYNC since introduction has made improvements upon the prior version. The all-new Ford SYNC 3 is no exception, with its feature set enhancements, much faster processing speeds, improved voice recognition and smart phone integration. SYNC 3 also has an improved interface, with more intuitive controls and a cleaner layout. Lag times in response to commands has been dramatically improved over past versions, and it now even has the ability to automatically update to the latest software version over a Wi-Fi connection.
Updated navigation features in Ford SYNC 3 also deserve recognition. This new navigation system can show maps in perspective view, and even show 3D renderings of many urban areas. It also shows traffic for a desired route, and estimates travel time based on real-time traffic data.
And finally, of course, SYNC 3 takes all of your music needs into consideration as well. Apps like Pandora, iHeartRadio, Spotify and others are all included, as is HD FM radio. Certain other apps that you run on your smartphone device can also be linked to SYNC 3 through AppLink, as long as they are supported. You can expect more apps to fall under that supported category in the future, as SYNC 3 becomes more widely available in all Ford vehicles.
